Reiki Sessions

A little time when nothing is required of you.

Why Reiki?

Sometimes, you simply need a place where you can stop.

You may come to a Reiki Session for many different reasons. Maybe you're feeling stressed or overwhelmed. Maybe you've been carrying a lot and want time where you aren't responsible for anyone else. You may be navigating change, grief or an emotionally demanding season. Or you may simply be curious about Reiki, want to reconnect with yourself, or enjoy having time to slow down and receive.

After a Reiki Session, you may feel:

A greater sense of calm after having time to slow down and breathe.

Calmer

Feeling more centred, connected and present.

Grounded

Peaceful

A sense of quiet, stillness and wellbeing.

Rested

Time to be still without having to do anything.

Clearer

Feeling more settled and self-aware.

lighter

Less emotionally and mentally weighed down.

And sometimes the benefit is much simpler:

For an hour, you get to stop doing and simply receive.

You don't need to arrive with a problem to solve. You don't even need to know what you need. And you certainly don't need to have experienced Reiki before. You are welcome here.

And your experience will be your own.

What is Reiki?

The word Reiki comes from two Japanese words:

Rei, understood as universal or spiritually guided wisdom, and Ki, the life-force energy that flows through all living things.

Together, Reiki is understood as spiritually guided life-force energy.

Reiki is a Japanese energy practice that works with this life-force energy. During a Reiki session, the practitioner acts as a channel for Reiki, allowing the energy to flow through their hands rather than directing it or deciding what should happen.

Reiki is spiritual in nature, although it isn't a religion and doesn't require a particular faith or belief system.

You remain fully clothed, and there is nothing you need to do to make Reiki happen. You don't need to meditate, clear your mind or have any previous experience with energy work.

You simply receive.

What might Reiki Feel like?

Warmth. Tingling. Deep relaxation. A feeling of lightness. Quiet. Or sometimes, nothing obvious at all.

There isn't one experience you're supposed to have.

During a Reiki Session, you may notice warmth or coolness, tingling, heaviness or lightness, deep relaxation, emotional release, a sense of energy moving, or simply a feeling of quiet.

In my experience, I’ve noticed that some people fall asleep. Some notice very little while they're on the table and recognize a change only afterward. And some simply enjoy the experience without noticing anything particularly unusual.

All of those experiences are okay. There isn't a right way to receive Reiki.

What Happens During a Reiki Session?

We start with a conversation

1.

When you arrive at the studio in SE Calgary, we'll take a few minutes to talk about what brought you in, answer your questions and go over what will happen during your session.

You Get Comfortable

2.

You'll remain fully clothed and settle onto the Reiki table. We'll make sure you're physically comfortable before we begin. Fluffy pillows. Soft blanket. Quiet music. Essential oils. You decide what you need and want during your session.

You Receive Reiki

3.

You can close your eyes, relax, stay awake, fall asleep or simply notice what you notice as we begin.

During your 60-minute session, I'll work through a series of hand positions, using light touch or holding my hands just above your body based on your comfort and consent.

We’ll take a few minutes afterward

4.

When the session is finished, you'll have time to sit up slowly and have some water.

If you'd like, you can share what you experienced, and I may share what I noticed from my perspective. You decide what you need and want in that moment.

Your job during the session is simple:

Receive.
