PRIVACY POLICY

1. Our commitment

Reiki in the Rockies respects your privacy and handles personal information in accordance with applicable Canadian and Alberta privacy law, including Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act where it applies and Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act where it applies.

2. Information we may collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

• your name, email address, telephone number, mailing or billing address;

• booking, registration, attendance, purchase, transaction and payment-related information;

• information you choose to provide in messages, forms, surveys, testimonials, course materials or intake documents;

• marketing and newsletter preferences and records of consent;

• technical information such as IP address, browser or device information, pages visited, referring pages, cookies and similar analytics information; and

• other information reasonably required to provide a requested service or comply with law.

Please do not submit sensitive health information through ordinary website forms or email unless we specifically request it and explain why it is needed. Payment card details are generally processed by the applicable payment processor rather than stored directly by us.

3. Why we use information

We may use personal information to:

• respond to questions and communicate with you;

• provide Reiki sessions, courses, events, digital content, products and other requested services;

• administer bookings, registrations, payments, refunds and customer support;

• operate, secure, troubleshoot and improve the website and our services;

• maintain business, tax and transaction records;

• send newsletters or promotional messages where permitted and manage unsubscribe requests;

• prevent fraud, misuse or security incidents; and

• meet legal, regulatory and contractual obligations.

We will obtain consent where required, use information only for reasonable purposes, and limit collection to what is reasonably necessary.

4. Service providers and processing outside Alberta or Canada

We may use service providers for website hosting, scheduling, email, newsletters, analytics, cloud storage, payments and other business functions. These providers may process or store information in other provinces or countries, where it may be subject to the laws and lawful access requirements of those places. We use providers and safeguards we consider appropriate, but no online system is completely secure.

5. Cookies and analytics

This website and its service providers may use essential cookies and similar technologies to operate the site. Optional analytics or marketing technologies may also be used depending on the site settings and the choices available to you. You can adjust browser settings to block or delete cookies, although parts of the site may not function properly.

6. Marketing messages

We send commercial electronic messages only as permitted by Canada’s anti-spam law and other applicable law. You may unsubscribe using the link in a message or by contacting us. We may still send non-promotional messages needed to complete a transaction or provide a requested service.

7. Retention and security

We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above or as required by law. We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to the information. No method of transmission or storage can be guaranteed completely secure.

8. Access, correction and withdrawal of consent

Subject to legal exceptions, you may ask to access or correct your personal information or withdraw consent to future use. Withdrawal may limit our ability to provide a requested service. To make a privacy request or complaint, contact Andrea at Andrea@ReikiInTheRockies.com or use the business contact information above. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

9. Children and minors

The website is not intended to collect personal information from children without appropriate involvement and consent from a parent or legal guardian. A parent or guardian should contact us if they believe a child has provided personal information inappropriately.

10. Privacy questions and complaints

Please contact us first so we can try to resolve a privacy concern. You may also have the right to contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, depending on which law applies.

Unless a specific offer says otherwise, contact us as soon as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule. We will apply the terms disclosed for that booking and any rights or remedies required by applicable law. No wording on this website limits a cancellation, refund or other consumer right that cannot legally be waived.

11. User submissions and testimonials

You retain ownership of content you submit. When you knowingly provide material for publication, you give us permission to use it for the purpose explained at the time. We will seek appropriate permission before identifying you in a testimonial. Do not submit material that infringes another person’s rights or is unlawful, misleading or harmful.

If account access is offered, you are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for activity under your account. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized use.

13. Accessibility

We want our website and services to be reasonably accessible. Contact us if you experience an accessibility barrier or need information in another reasonable format, and we will consider an appropriate accommodation.

14. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you are responsible for loss reasonably resulting from your unlawful use of the website, infringement of another person’s rights, or material breach of these terms. This section does not apply where prohibited by consumer protection or other law.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update this page from time to time. The “Last updated” date will identify the current version. Changes apply prospectively when posted, except where notice or consent is required by law. The terms provided or displayed when you complete a transaction continue to govern that transaction unless law requires otherwise.

16. Governing law and mandatory rights

These terms are governed by the laws of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without limiting any mandatory consumer, privacy or other rights that apply to you. If you access the website from elsewhere, you are responsible for local requirements that apply to your use.
